It didn't qualify as a major surprise, but the Brewers agreed to a one-year, $2.35 million contract with outfielder Nyjer Morgan.
Morgan, who was a sparkplug through much of last season and produced a series-clinching single in a playoff against Arizona, made $471,500 last season. Acquired from Washington at the end of spring training, he played in 119 games and hit .304 with four homers and 37 RBI.
Morgan will make $25,000 in incentives if he reaches 500 plate appearances and an additional $25,000 if he gets to 525.
The Brewers still have four players eligible for arbitrtation, all pitchers: Shaun Marcum, Francisco Rodriguez, Kameron Loe and Jose Veras.
